I liked the use and contrast in material here which I felt reflected the atmosphere I wanted to create for my self build scheme. It also inspired ideas for secondary structures within the self build module.

I wanted to maintain privacy throughout the homes in my design whilst still allowing a lot of natural light among them. The use of perforated bricks was interesting in bringing these qualities.

The use of a mezzanine floor here worked well in creating open and light space in what could be small and dark. This was an element which I wanted to explore within my flats.

As I had a theme of changing levels within my building already I thought it would be interesting to explore this through the landscape and how you interact with them.

I found the contrast of a peaceful and secluded garden beneath the mass of infrastructure above an interesting combination that I would similarly like to create within my project.

The passage underneath the structure in my design was an element where I wanted to embrace the atmosphere. The use of waffle slabs here was interesting in showing the mass of the structure above.
