ELEVATION

This montage of Elevations collates a range of ideas concerning exposed structures to emphasise the rhythm of the facade and raised walkways to also expose the circulation. The theme of exposure is ironically taken from the exposed surrounding major roads.

SECTION

This section explores the programme being separated by levels. The use of a staggered effect also increases the light access to all flats. Following on from the elevation, an exposed structural frame emphasises the circulation around the building.

1ST FLOOR PLAN

The format of the building focuses around a central courtyard space open for both residents and public to visit. As circulation was a common theme through the elevation and section, the circulation here was to connect both blocks of housing through a raised walkway.

S

- Central communal space

- Staggered effect allows more light

- Protected from major roads behind site

W

- Limited space for housing

- Awkward and useless space in corner of buildings

- Public and residents share outside space

O

- Create a separate community

- Form a 'town square' which Stretford is lacking

- Communal landscaping

T

- Maybe too segregated from Stretford

- Not inviting for passersby
